21/22 Weeks Update: August 13-15

On Friday, August 13, we had our 21 weeks ultrasound/check-up. My parents came down for the appointment and got to see all the activity during the ultrasound. This appointment was for the full anatomy scan. The very first picture of the baby we saw was for determining the gender. There he was... 100% boy... no doubt this time! The ultrasound nurse continued with the check telling us how long his torso and femur were, telling us he was going to be a tall boy... just like his daddy! His feet are 1 1/2 inches long already, again following in his daddy's foot steps. He had his hands up around his face most of the scan clasped together like he was praying. He finally let us see his cute little face at the end long enough to get a profile picture. He is about 10 inches long and a little less than a pound in weight. Halfway through the scan, I got a little light head and dizzy from laying down for so long on my back. I missed seeing his little feet and hands and face because I had to roll over on my side facing away from the screen. :( Just hearing Jesse and my parent's reactions made it just as great as if I would have seen it myself. It made me smile everytime he kicked and they laughed. He is such an active little guy!

We came home after the appointment to boxes and boxes of clothes and gifts from my parents, grandparents, and friends back home. I opened and went through one box of clothes and such and was soooo excited to see all the little outfits. The second box was full of more surprises... one of the best surprises I've ever been given. On the top of all the clothes was a little bookbag with farm animals on it. I had seen this bag at the beach with my family and fell in love with it. Jesse kept acting like he didn't really like it, that we could find something else to use as a travel/diaper bag. Little did I know that he was sneaking behind my back with my family to buy the bag. There was room for a name to be embroidered on the top of the bag. Jesse had been telling me that he wouldn't know the name of our baby until he saw him. Well... that was just a cover for his little secret. On the top of the bag he had picked out the name... MADDOX!! I was soooo excited because this was the name I was hoping he would pick. I was stunned and happy and excited... Baby Maddox now has a wonderful name! It makes everything so much more real knowing that Sweet Pea is now a little boy named Maddox Damon Wright.

We kept opening boxes and picking out clothes to keep. The next morning, Mom and I gathered all the clothes, blankets, and bids and started washing, folding, and putting away. Jesse and Dad put together the changing table. We all arranged the nursery in just the right layout. All that we need now is a little bit of decoration and of course... BABY!

Everything is coming together perfectly. We have truly been blessed with such a great experience with little Maddox... a great check-up, a wonderful start to the nursery, and a name!

A few pictures of the past month...

July 4th: 16 Weeks
Family Picture

Nursery in the works...

17 Weeks: July 13

2nd Trimester: June/July

So another month has gone by and Sweet Pea is growing like a weed! At our last doctor's visit I had gained 5 pounds. I'm sure I've gained a little since then. I feel like my belly grows bigger each day.

We went to the beach with my family in June. The heat wasn't very nice to me, so I stayed inside most of the trip. We did make it out to the Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach, Jesse rode go-carts with my family, and we went shopping for some baby things. Jesse bought me a diaper bag from Coach which I LOVE! We found an everyday diaper bag at Broadway and an outfit to bring Baby home in (white with duckies). Sweet Pea had fun playing with his cousin JT even though he wasn't very nice when his mommy tried feeding him. Any pressure on the belly made me feel sick.

A month later, I'm finally past that point. At the last doctor's appointment, Jesse and I got to hear the heart beat again... 165 beats per minute. The nurse couldn't get him to sit still at first so she could take the rate. I guess Sweet Pea is going to be an adventure when he is born!

Jesse and I have started getting the nursery together. You never realize how much stuff you have when you try to combine two rooms together. Our office is now an office/scrapbook/guest room! A little cramped but still comfy. :) We went with my mom to Babies-R-Us and got our crib, stroller, high chair, and pack-and-play and picked out our changing table and dresser. We brought home our crib and put it together. The cradle my sister used from my grandparents is in the room too along with all the fun little outfits he already has been bought!

Our next appointment is August 13. We will have the anatomy scan and measures done at this time. My parents are coming to visit and hopefully will get to sit in on some of the ultrasound. I'm looking forward to seeing Sweet Pea again and how much he has grown. I'm also looking forward to another positive scan telling us that everything is going fine and that Sweet Pea is a boy (100% this time instead on just 73%!).

I can feel him moving all the time... he is making me grow out of all my clothes... it is amazing how much you can love someone and not even have seen them in person yet!

Doctor's Visit and Ultrasound

Today Jesse and I went to the doctor to see little Sweet Pea for the first time. We got called back really quick which helped seeing I was soooo excited and ready to hear the baby. I was weighed in at 137, having gained 4 pounds in the past month. Our ultrasound tech, Susan, was extremely nice. She talked to us and realized how excited we were. She didn't waste much time to get started. As soon as I saw Sweet Pea my heart just fluttered. About that time, so did Sweet Pea. VERY active little baby. We got sooo many cute little pictures... a thumb sucker, feet crossed, flipping around... even stood on his head!

Did you catch that... HIS! We were told that we had 73% chance it is a little BOY! We could see the beginnings of... well a boy :) Of course, I was already crying, but now I couldn't hold back the tears. HOW EXCITING! I went to the doctor just for a check up and a healthy report and found out already! We are both doing great... baby is healthy, mom is healthy, dad.. well he is holding up :)

After taking his measurements and mine, the doctor said we are more like 13 weeks instead of 12. I guess that means that our due date is changing to December 21. I guess he is going to be tall like his daddy!

Baby Shower: White Oak

June 8, 2010

The lovely ladies at White Oak threw Jessica Hewett, a fellow preggers co-worker, and I a baby shower. The shower was GREAT. Sweet pea received a lot of fun gifts from a swaddle wrap blanket to butt-paste, towels and washcloths to a diaper cake. Mandy Terrell put together the shower and "raised" money from our co-workers. She collected enough to buy us beautiful flowers and still give us gift cards in the amount of $200!!!!! I wanted to cry I was so excited. This money is going to be used towards sooooo much fun baby stuff... possibly our crib!

We had cupcakes, fruit, chips, and dip to snack. Everyone, especially Mandy, enjoyed watching me munch down on the chips and dip... down to the last little crumb just so I could eat more of the dip! I'm going to miss these girls and all the fun conversations and experiences we have shared.

A BIG THANKS to all the Freshman Academy for being there for me these past two years with all my ups and downs. You truly brought a smile to my face through everything. Love you ladies!

The Big News

How we found out...

I had been feeling a little "strange" lately, and decided to take a pregnancy test with the hopes of it being positive. Wednesday after work I went and bought a test, took it, and waited for it to turn. Jesse didn't know I was even doing this; he was still at work. I didn't want to get both of us too excited. The test had a very faint line so I wasn't sure. Of course he didn't get home until late that night, and I was going crazy trying to figure out what it meant. Jesse finally asked what was bothering me while we were fixing dinner. I told him I had something to show him. Needless to say we were both excited but confused because the line was so faint. We decided to wait a day or two and take another one just to make sure we weren't reading into something.

My brother and sister-in-law, Landon and Tabatha, were coming to visit us on Friday, and I just couldn't wait until they left to take another one. I got home from work and took the test. I was hoping Jesse would make it home before they made it, but I was wrong! I couldn't wait to tell someone until Jesse got home... I was too excited. I asked Tabatha to come with me; that I had to show her something. This test was still a little faint but a definite yes. When Jesse got home, we could finally be excited about the results... WE WERE PREGNANT!!

We decided to keep the news a secret for awhile due to the last pregnancy. I set up a doctor's appointment for a positive confirmation (a week and a half after taking the at home test). Once confirmed I had to tell my parents because I just couldn't keep it inside. I wanted people to know so that they could pray for the health of the baby and myself. It was very close to my mother's birthday so I decided what could be better than the news of another grandchild. My mom and dad were very excited to know the great news. Slowly we started spreading the word to family and friends as I've progressed.

I have felt sooooo different this time around. I actually feel pregnant, and not just having stomach pains. I have dealt with the typical pregnancy symptoms: nausea, faintness, ALWAYS tired. My little baby bump is growing, and it makes me sooooo happy.

I have had my first doctor's appointment. Peed in a cup, drew LOTS of blood, physical exam, talked with the doctor... June 16 will be our first ultrasound which we are both very excited to experience.

Jesse and I started our baby registry at Babies-R-Us with just the basic items and nothing gender related. We found a crib we loved and little baby outfits that just made us smile. Neither one of us can wait to go back and complete the registry when we know what we are having. We call our little bundle of joy Sweet Pea. While registering, we found a sweet pea picture frame, photo album, and baby book that we just had to have!

This has been the most amazing 11 weeks of my life. However, it has also been exhausting and stressful. Jesse and I ask that all that reads this continue to pray for us as we are just starting this journey. Pray for the health of Sweet Pea. Pray for my body's strength. Pray that both Jesse and I will be great parents. Pray for my mood swings and food cravings and Jesse's ability to make it through!
